Solenoid Shut-Off Valve and Check Shut-Off Valves, Type SSOV and CSOV

When flammable refrigerants are used in a refrigeration system, additional precautions must be taken to meet the requirements of UL 60335-2-89, 3rd edition. One requirement is to isolate any enclosed area from the remainder of the system in case of a refrigerant leak. Per UL 60335-2-89, safety shut-off valves are required to perform this isolation. The Solenoid Shut-Off Valve (SSOV) and the Check Shut-Off Valve (CSOV) were specifically designed to meet the criteria of the UL 60335-2-89 standard. The Solenoid Shut-Off Valve leverages the robust design of the existing solenoid offering. The SSOV series of valves utilizes the current MKC coil series. The SSOV is intended for use in the discharge or liquid line. The SSOV will close tightly with no pressure drop across the valve. The Check Shut-Off Valve expands of the Parker Sporlan check valve offering. Extensive engineering effort has gone into producing a tight-sealing check valve to meet the requirement of the UL 60335-2-89 standard. The CSOV is intended for use in the suction line. During normal system operation, the CSOV is designed to maximize flow with minimal pressure drop. Once the system cycles off, the CSOV does not allow refrigerant migration back into the indoor space. Together, the SSOV and CSOV provide a complete solution for refrigeration systems to meet the safety shut-off requirements of UL 60335-2-89.
