Szymczak Elected SMACNA President

 

SAN ANTONIO — Thomas Szymczak, president of SSM Industries Inc. of Pittsburgh, was elected by the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association’s (SMACNA) Board of Directors to serve as president.

Committed to SMACNA and the industry for years, Szymczak served on SMACNA’s Board of Directors from 2006 to 2010. Currently, he is vice chair of the Budget and Finance Committee. In addition, he serves on the National Pension Fund, Investment Committee and is a management trustee of the Sheet Metal Industry Labor Management Cooperation Fund.

He has also served as chair of the Budget and Finance Committee, the Investment Committee and the Multi-Service Chapter Application and Selection Committee. A SFUA Article X Management panelist, Szymczak was officer liaison to the Products and Programs Coordinating Committee and was on the Director Nominating Committee and Pension Task Force.

Locally, he has served on the Board of Directors of SMACNA of Western Pennsylvania and has gone through the officer chairs serving as president, vice president and chapter councilor. He chaired the Joint Adjustment Board for Western Pennsylvania Local 12 and served on the Apprentice Committee for Western Pennsylvania Local 12 as well.

Szymczak studied business at Allegheny County Community College and entered the sheet metal industry in 1977 as an apprentice.
