HVAC Excellence is proud to announce that the title of Certified Master HVAC Educator (CMHE) has been conferred upon Thomas Shiflet of Greenville Technical College in Greenville, SC.

This program, developed by HVAC Excellence, validates that an educator has mastered the subject matter needed to teach the competencies required by their students for success in an ever-changing industry.

The title demonstrates that a person is at the top of theirfield in six specialty areas. To earn the status of Certified Master HVACR Educator, an instructor must obtain a passing score of 80% or better on six area-specific HVAC Excellence Certified Subject Matter Educator (CSME) exams. In addition, the instructor has to pass the HVAC Excellence Capstone exam, which covers technical education methodologies.

Mr. Shiflet is the thirteenth instructor to pass all of the exams.  In addition, he is the first instructor in South Carolina.

Mr. Shiflet was a controls technician for Johnson Controls and branch manager for Carrier Corporation prior to joining Greenville Technical College.  He holds numerous industry certifications: ICE student assessments, NATE technician certifications, he is a NCCER certified instructor, and now he can add the HVAC Excellence designation of Certified Master HVACR Educator (CMHE) to his title.
