Terry E. Townsend, P.E., 2006-2007 American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers President, will be the keynote speaker for the 2008 RSES Annual Conference.   “Greening the HVACR Industry” will be the focus of Townsend’s address during the opening ceremonies of the 71st Annual Conference that will take place at the Hilton Indianapolis Hotel in Indianapolis on Sept. 16-20, 2008.

Townsend, deeply involved in ASHRAE’s recent emphasis on sustainability and energy efficiency, is a vocal proponent of the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration industry, leading the charge to improve building system design and performance.  “We are at an environmental tipping point right now.  We're faced with an impending energy crisis and global warming situation that will affect people worldwide.  We cannot continue on this path, and we all must do something about it in a bold and aggressive manner,” says Townsend.
