The Carbon Monoxide Safety Association (COSA) will hold a Carbon Monoxide Safety Training Seminar on July 15, 2008, at Intellitec College in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Course Content: The seminar is presented in distinct segments that include: carbon monoxide (CO) properties and how it is produced, measured and disseminated, and the health effects of short term as well as long term exposures.
Basic testing procedures, overview of combustion analysis, use of test instruments, a primer on how building and duct pressures effect the production and distribution of CO are also reviewed.
This class will present basic manufacturer test requirements for proper installation and service verification as well as procedures to check the cleanliness and the integrity of the combustion gases for safety as well as for efficiency. Furnaces, water heaters, cooking stoves, space heaters, fireplaces and other systems will be evaluated. Experience live fired systems and demonstrations of building and duct pressure interferences on common appliances.
