Increased pressure to reduce carbon emissions paired with rising energy costs are driving the agenda of the Alliance to Save Energy’s Great Energy Efficiency Day on April 16 on Capitol Hill.
John W. Conover IV, president of Trane’s commercial business in the Americas, will take part in a discussion titled “Building for the Future: The Elements of Success.” Conover will share his thoughts on sustainable solutions for business and the environment including trends in today’s built environment, available technologies, case examples, and environment and economic impacts.
“Buildings currently consume one-third of the world’s energy and global energy consumption is projected to increase 60% by 2030,” says Conover. “The Great Energy Efficiency Day allows us to discuss real, practical solutions to reduce energy use and the carbon footprint without compromising economics or business performance. Policy makers in our nation’s capital can use this event to better understand the wide range of actions that can be taken to make buildings operate more efficiently.”
Launched in 2004, the Great Energy Efficiency Day has quickly become a “must attend” discussion on the need for, and benefits of, energy efficiency, drawing more than 400 stakeholders from business, industry, government, academia, the media and the public interest sector. The event features the leading energy voices in energy efficiency addressing timely issues and provides insight from Capitol Hill with keynote addresses from congressional members.
Under Conover’s direction, Trane has saved its customers more than $400 million and 198M kwH of energy through comprehensive building solutions. This is the equivalent of planting 115,000 trees, removing 100,000 cars from the road, powering 80,000 homes, saving 2 billion pounds of C02, 15 million pounds of acid rain, 5 million pounds of smog, 70 million gallons of water and 60 million gallons of gasoline.
