“Winning the Financial Battle,” a live, interactive online program, is geared toward contractors who hate the financial side but realize it is critical to their business success.  

The program is taught by Ruth King, hvacr industry expert.  The series begins March 26, 2008 at 12 Noon eastern time and continues April 2, 9, and 16.  Participants can watch the programs live, on-demand, or both.  They can review them at their leisure. Homework is assigned between classes.

Week 1:  Accounting definitions you need to know and what they mean. What a balance sheet really is and why it is important.  The profit and loss statement formula. Gross profit vs. gross margin. Homework assignment. 

Week 2: Ruth’s rules for pricing and break even.  How much does it really cost to stay in business?  Departmentalization to ensure that each of your departments is earning a profit. Homework assignment. 

Week 3: Short term benchmarking. Calculate the 10 critical financial ratios that tell you when your company is headed for a crisis (and what to do about them). Homework assignment. 

Week 4: Long term benchmarking.  Use trailing numbers to see the overall health of your company. Implement cash flow procedures that help you track and keep the cash you generate.
