Coleman, a brand of residential/light commercial HVAC equipment manufactured by Johnson Controls, has received a Consumers Digest Best Buy designation for its Coleman 5T 15+ SEER Echelon air conditioner, which qualifies for a $150 tax credit under the federal Energy Policy Act of 2005. The designation was announced in the June 2007 issue of Consumers Digest, a national consumer magazine that evaluates a broad range of consumer products.
The Coleman Echelon 5T air conditioner “offers many popular features and good performance,” according to the magazine’s Best Buy guidelines. “This model’s unique swept-wing fan design allows air to flow smoothly off the blade, reducing air turbulence and raising comfort levels by significantly reducing sound,” said Jeff Hurt, Coleman brand manager.
The article added that the product’s “two-speed operation minimizes energy consumption during mild weather.” Product features include an output of 24,000 to 60,000 BTU/hour, a peak efficiency of 15 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) and an extensive warranty (10 years on the compressor, five years on parts and labor). The Echelon 5T air conditioner uses environmentally friendly R-410A refrigerant and is ENERGY STAR qualified, offering a competitive edge among savings-oriented consumers who recognize and value the ENERGY STAR logo.
