The Luxaire Brand of Johnson Controls played a vital role in helping Charley, an 18-year-old from Edmond, Okla., achieve his dream of driving to college last fall in his own truck. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Oklahoma had requested help for the teen, who has B-cell Lymphoma, a disease that involves the immune system. His wish: to drive the first truck his parents ever owned a 1976 Chevrolet that his parents had purchased after they were married and saved for Charley, in the hope that he would attend college one day.
The truck, which Charley affectionately refers to as his “second girlfriend” has a simple matte black paint job, black rims and large rivets, tinted windows, a new stereo system, new upholstery and dashboard exactly as the young man wanted.
Luxaire has a network of distributors and dealers nationwide that partner with Make-A-Wish Foundation’s local chapters to organize their own fundraising activities. The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. It has 71 chapters in the United States and its territories and 27 international affiliates on five continents.
