Molex Introduces ESE Terminal Blocks
Molex announces a new line of Eurostyle ESE Terminal Blocks that offer design engineers a large amount of flexibility. The new line includes more than 50 designs or housing styles of plugs, headers, and fixed terminal blocks that are fully RoHS compliant. They are available in four pitches from 3.50 to 5.08mm (.138 to .197 in.), and in either fixed (single-piece), or pluggable (two-piece) styles. They are rated at 300V and 8.0-15.0A and support up to 12 AWG wire. The ESE product line provides three different wire angles, including vertical, horizontal, and a 45-degree angle option. Additional features include high temperature housings, gold contact plating, and imprinting. For more information: Visit www.molex.com/product/esetermblocks.html.
Thermistor Brings Accuracy to Harsh Environments
Hart Scientific, a division of Fluke Corp., announces the addition of the model 5611T Teflon Probe to its line of secondary reference thermistors. Its Teflon-encapsulated tip, the thickest part of the thermistor, measures only 3 mm in diameter. Its flexible four-wire lead is Teflon-insulated and extends another 6 meters (20 ft).
The flexibility, length, and chemical resistance of the 5611T make it a practical solution to many problems experienced in industries with harsh chemical environments. The probe’s calibration and unique construction allow +/- 0.01C uncertainty readings to be taken quickly in either deep or shallow immersion.
The unit lists for $565. For more information, contact Hart Scientific at 800-GET-HART (801-763-1600 internationally), visit www.hartscientific.com, or e-mail info@hartscientific.com.
Device Monitors Doors on Coolers, Freezers
The DAC-55 Door Monitor, from Modularm Corp., is a patented and functionally integrated device for monitoring doors on walk-in coolers and freezers. Benefits provided include energy savings, automation of certain functions that normally are done manually, training of personnel to close doors, increased operator safety, improved product integrity, and lowered maintenance costs.
Using magnetic contacts to sense door status, the DAC-55 combines a time-adjustable audible and visual door-ajar alarm with remote notification capability, automatic control of compartment lights (replaces light switches), and user configurable automatic interruption of the refrigeration system relative to the status of the door (replaces fan shutoff switches) into a single compact unit. One controlled test found that the DAC-55 can reduce the amount of time walk-in doors are ajar by as much as 86%, and the amount of time lights are left on by as much as 99.5%. An optional IP-1 Illuminated Pushbutton, installed inside of the walk-in, provides Panic (Entrapment) Alarm annunciation and expands other device functions.

Dual-Fuel Package Products
New Tempstar brand PDX3 dual fuel units, from International Comfort Products, offer 13 SEER, up to 80% AFUE, 7.7 HSPF efficiency, and use R-410A refrigerant. Designed to be easy to install and service, the package products can run on heat pump or furnace, whichever is most efficient based on weather conditions. The heat pump features a new defrost system that helps keep coils ice-free for more efficient, reliable operation. New high-efficiency blower motors control airflow and reduce sound. A new-air management system ensures smooth, quiet airflow through the condenser and improves the overall strength of the unit.

ClimateMaster DOAS Heats Outdoor Air
ClimateMaster has introduced a new DOAS (Dedicated Outside Air System) WSHP (Water-source Heat Pump) product line. The ClimateMaster DOAS heats 100% outdoor winter air without the need for a separate auxiliary heat source such as gas or electric resistance in most cases. The DOAS unit is effective down to 15F [9C] winter design temperature. With an optional enthalpy wheel, the system is effective down to 10F [23C]. In summer, the refrigerant circuit, with modulating reheat and hot gas bypass, provides leaving air dew point control. Leaving air temperature and dew point at part-load conditions are controlled with onboard microprocessor controls.

Sanyo Launches ECO-i Variable Refrigerant Flow
Sanyo’s new HVAC Applied Products Division will focus on supporting the sales, training, and service of Sanyo’s ECO-i Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems. These products are ecologically sound and energy efficient. Ideal for hospitals, nursing homes, and other commercial properties, they use an inverter- driven compressor to maintain a constant temperature, thus saving energy and keeping the environment at a comfortable temperature. The design of the products not only overcomes the limitations associated with the installation of traditional split systems, but also offers the end-user improved comfort and drastically reduced power consumption. And, each zone has its own temperature control. The systems include:
Four outdoor unit capacities (inter-connectable up to 24 tons)
Both single phase and three phase units available (208-230V)
Complete range of indoor units
Larger outdoor units can power up to 15 indoor units
All outdoor units incorporate "soft start" technology (ultra-low starting amps). For more information: Phone 678-355-6635.
Broan Sees Value in Integrated Ventilation System
The SmartSense Ventilation System combines patent-pending Broan SmartSense technology with Broan Ultra Silent ventilation fans to create an integrated ventilation system in the home. Individual fans that once worked independently now work together to ensure fresh air throughout the day. The master control monitors the normal/manual usage of the fans in the home, such as during shower time. It calculates the volume of air ventilated and deducts this from the total ventilation required. If necessary, it will intermittently operate fans throughout the home to achieve optimal ventilation and superior distribution of fresh air.
