Small, But Mighty Tankless Water Heater

Takagi announces the launch of the T-K3 tankless water heater, its smallest, most versatile and powerful residential water heater to date. The unit, which measures 13.8-in. wide and weighs only 40 lbs, can be recessed between two wall studs. With a maximum flow rate of seven gallons per minute, the T-K3 continuously provides an unlimited supply of hot water. With Takagi’s new Easy Link Technology, up to four units can be linked together – without an additional control box – to meet the needs of larger homes.

The T-K3 starts heating water at only 0.5 GPM compared to the .75 GPM of its predecessors, which ensures stable temperatures, reduces water waste, and provides hot water faster to faucets where there is less water flow, such as with bathroom sinks and showers. It offers eight separate temperature settings, from 104F to 185F, so it does not require the use of a separate remote control.

Software Upgrades are Contractor Driven

Data-Basics Inc., announces the release of SAM Pro Enterprise version 7.0 accounting and service management software suite, and updates to TechAnywhere 2.0, its wireless field service software. SAM Pro enhancements include automatic adjustment of pre-defined “escalation profiles,” which automatically e-mail, fax, or page a manager if a work order falls out of spec. Version 7.0 recognizes the days contractors and service providers are closed and automatically adjusts the dates.

Version 7.0 also features enhanced payroll support for Canadian firms, increased security features to enable executive payroll, and better support for employees with recurring wages. It also supports the ability to specify the employee contribution on a worker’s compensation record.

TechAnywhere 2.0 for the tablet PC adds the ability to generate and print custom invoices from the field (via a mobile printer) and to swipe and process credit card information in real time.

New Way to Regulate Room Temperature

Inova Products Inc., announces the Activent, an electronically controlled air register that opens and closes to maintain constant room temperature. With Activent, the homeowner sets the desired temperature for the room using a wireless Remote Temperature Controller (RTC), which then automatically communicates with the louver system. The RTC can also be used to manually open and close the Activent louver system. LED lights on the remote indicate if batteries in the remote or the louver system need to be changed. Activent is available for vents sized 4-in X 10-in., 4-in. X 12-in., 4-in. X 14-in., and 6-in. X 10-in. MSRP is $100.00.
