ARLINGTON, VAThe Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) announced the 10 winners of the 2006 Clifford H. “Ted” Rees, Jr. Scholarship established to honor former ARI president Rees’ legacy, whose efforts encouraged hvacr manufacturers to provide support to strengthen vocational and technical school education nationwide.
The foundation awards ten $2,000 scholarships, twice yearly, to qualified students who are enrolled, or plan to enroll, in an hvacr program at an accredited institution.
“We are thrilled to award these scholarships to some of the brightest men and women studying in this technical field today,” said William G. Sutton, president of ARI. “By supporting the next generation of hvacr technicians, we pay tribute to Ted’s vision to strengthen the future of the industry by encouraging young men and women to excel.”
ARI received 40 applications for the fall semester from students across the country. Information on the selection criteria used included academic performance, letters of recommendation, work history, and a short essay. For more information visit www.ari.org/education/rees/.
