Fleetmatics will present a free webinar on Jan. 31 to discuss the findings of a survey on the top five challenges fleet managers face and how GPS systems can help them to successfully overcome these challenges. The webinar will take place at 11 a.m. EST, and registration is required.
Fleetmatics’ survey of 100 customers revealed these as the top five challenges:
Reducing fuel costs. Fuel prices are notoriously volatile, but they have been even more so in recent years. In fact, fuel prices have gone up at least 30% in eight out of the last 10 years. Fuel will remain one of the largest expenditures for businesses with vehicle fleets, and so it’s a no-brainer that every fleet-management program should include a plan for reducing fuel costs.
Increasing productivity of in-the-field employees. Once vehicles are on the road, supervisors can’t easily confirm where drivers are or what they are doing. Studies have shown that without the direct guidance of a supervisor, employees tend to be less productive.
In addition, inefficient routing and dispatching can lower productivity. Drivers don’t always know the fastest route to their next appointment and can end up spending a lot of time searching. Traffic delays also play a factor in delaying drivers on the road. Excessive time spent between jobs is unproductive time. And without knowing the location of your vehicles, you have to make calls to drivers to find out where they areand when they can make it to their next job. Even the best scheduling and routing plans can fall apart when an emergency job comes up.
Reducing overall operating costs. Repair and maintenance of vehicles, overtime pay, back-office applications, communication costs, insurance premiums, increased liability, and other inefficient business practices all contribute to the high cost of running a vehicle fleet. Some of these issues are very complicated and can require ahuge capital investment and/or business overhaul to achieve significant improvement.
Improving security. For businesse swith vehicle fleets, vehicles are a company’s most important assets both in terms of monetary value and productivity implications. And many times vehicles carry expensive, specialized tools or freight that can be very difficult andcostly to replace. It’s imperative that vehicles are as secure as possible and if missing, can be found quickly.
Improving customer service. Technicians are living marketing tools, even though they might not know it. They are the face of a business, and how responsive they are to your clients’ needs directly reflects on that business.
Customers expect their service to be done on time and correctly. In addition, clients with an emergency want you to address their concerns immediately. The faster techs can get to the job, the happier the client will be.
Webinar presenters will cover in detail using examples and case studies exactly how GPS fleet tracking canbe used to overcome or eliminate these challenges.
According to Fleetmatics, many fleet owners do not realize is that GPS fleet tracking doesn’t just show you where vehicles are located. A quality GPS solution gathers a wide variety of information about each vehicle tracked, including data on speed, idling and engine status.
