JB Industries recently announced a distribution partnership with Novent to provide Refrigerant Locking Caps to the HVAC/R channel. Novent created the original tamper resistant refrigerant locking caps for the service valve on all air conditioning and mini split units. These locking caps help prevent tampering or access by unauthorized personnel.

“The partnership between JB and Novent is a natural fit for both parties. Novent is strongly committed to providing high quality product that fills a serious need in the marketplace,” said Jeff Cherif, president, JB Industries. “We feel very strongly about this product.  Several states and municipalities have mandated that caps be installed on new equipment. Several more are passing legislation monthly. There are plans to require locking caps on all units whether installs or retrofits. As Novent pioneered the design and developed the patent, there is no better manufacturer for this product.”

Novent refrigerant locking caps are patented and precisely machined from high-grade brass encompassed within a protective refrigerant color-coded aluminum casing. They are corrosion resistant and have an o-ring seal to provide a positive back-up for leaking service valves. These caps are secured on to a unit with a special key sold only to certified HVAC technicians and provide a tamper resistant barrier to reduce theft, vandalism, and the accidental mixing of refrigerant.  

JB plans to distribute the locking caps in 4 and 12 packs for R-410A, R-22, and universal.  Bulk packages will also be available in 50 pieces or a “cookie jar” of 150 pieces.
