Field Controls recently introduced its Healthy Home System, which turns the forced air ductwork of any home or small business into an integrated IAQ management system. The system is built around the Healthy Home System Control unit that monitors and controls the HVAC central fan to keep air Fresh, Clean, & Pure 24/7, the company explained.

The Healthy Home System Control uses patented technology that engages the central fan on a scheduled basis to keep air flowing throughout the building, explained Bobby Nelson, Vice President of Sales. An added benefit, he said, is improved energy efficiency. The system helps keep temperatures and humidity consistent throughout the home, extending the off-cycle time between calls for heating or cooling.

“This system has multiple benefits for the wholesaler, the contractor, and the homeowner,” says Nelson. “It’s a low-cost way to turn virtually any forced air system into a whole house IAQ system and it’s totally customizable.”

In addition to the control unit, the system consists of three components that work together to provide air that is Fresh, Clean, and Pure.

Components

The Fresh Air Damper regulates fresh air intake and helps circulate fresh air pursuant to ASHRAE standard 62.2. Field offers two fresh air solutions: a motorized Fresh Air Damper in 4, 6, 8, & 10 inch sizes and a 6 inch pressure-activated Fresh/Make up Air Damper that automatically opens when the central fan is activated.

To clean the air in the building, Field produces a full line of Media Air Cleaners that use MERV 8 and MERV 11 filtration to automatically clean the air in the home. The Media Air Cleaner™ housing is installed in the return prior to the central fan. Field’s pleated media filters contain enough air cleaning capacity to clean for months without restricting air flow or placing a strain on the air handling system. The media is electrostatically super-charged for better efficiency and longer service life. It is moisture resistant and will not support the growth of bacteria or other microbes. The MERV 11 media captures airborne particles as small as 1 micron including dust, pollen, dander, mold spores, and bacteria.

Field Controls offers an extensive line of UV-Aire® options including 15 in-duct and two portable models. The UV-Aire in-duct models are installed over or near the A-coil to zap airborne invaders such as bacteria, viruses, mold, and dust mites. As these microscopic particles pass through the intense UV-C germicidal light, they are killed or sterilized. When installed over the A-coil, the UV-Aire kills mold on the coil while preventing new mold growth on the coil or in the drain pan.
