Fieldpiece Instruments has introduced two new portable digital refrigerant manifolds. The new SMAN2 and SMAN3 automatically calculate target superheat, letting technicians correctly charge any air conditioner or refrigeration unit. In addition the manifolds measure and display dual temperatures and pressures, as well as calculate and display superheat and subcooling simultaneously, the company says.
The SMAN3 includes a micron vacuum gauge, plus two additional features that are not available on other manifolds a micron alarm and vacuum timer. The micron alarm enables technicians to set the alarm to a chosen micron level, and when the vacuum reaches that level, the alarm will sound, so techs can continue working without constantly checking the vacuum.
Field technicians can calibrate temperature by using the cal pots on the front of SMAN and zero pressure to the atmosphere with the press of a button. Or for a more accurate pressure calibration, technicians can use a bottle of refrigerant and follow the “Test Pressure” procedure.
The SMAN2 and SMAN3 also include dual K-type thermocouple pipe clamp inputs, a large temperature and glare resistant backlit display viewable from 20’, long battery life (500 hours for SMAN2 and 135 hours for SMAN3) with constant battery status, and 39 built in P-T charts, the company says. Plus a sturdy hook for hanging the manifolds in the truck
The SMAN2 digital manifold includes both wet and dry bulb thermocouples, and protective case. The SMAN3 digital manifold includes both wet and dry bulb thermocouples, a protective case, micron vacuum gauge, micron alarm, and two K-type pipe-clamp thermocouples.
