The GeoStar Aston Series Indoor Split provides the efficiency of geothermal and the versatility of a split system, according to the company. When added to an existing fossil fuel system, the geothermal unit provides super-efficient heating and cooling with backup. When combined with a GeoStar air handler, the unit is ENERGY STAR rated and is therefore eligible for the 30 percent tax credit.

It is available in 2 to 6-ton capacities and features a microprocessor that sequences equipment for peak efficiency. The Comfort Alert option adds advanced self-diagnostic features, additional status display features and smart communication between the unit and thermostat. Premium scroll compressors are mounted on a heavy-duty isolation plate with sound dampening rubber grommets to reduce operation noise, the company said.

A durable powder-coat finish is standard for long lasting beauty and protection. The unit is fully insulated with a cleanable, foil-backed insulation that helps provide quiet operation. 

In addition, an optional hot water generator allows the Aston Series Indoor Split to preheat water and deliver it to a water heater. In heating mode, water is heated at the efficiency of the unit. In cooling mode, the heat from the home is transferred to the water heater rather than the ground, providing free hot water.
