Johnson Controls Building Efficiency business unit has extended its line of York® Affinity residential products with the new Affinity 16 SEER split system single-stage heat pump.
This latest update to the York Affinity Series is compatible with the new York Affinity Communicating Control to ensure maximum system efficiency and homeowner comfort, the company says. The heat pump can also be used with a standard thermostat, increasing the unit’s installation and replacement flexibility.
Available in 2- to 5-ton capacities, the new Affinity Series features 2.5-ton and 3.5-ton models, each of which complements a properly sized premium system. In addition, the unit is eligible for a federal tax credit up to $1,500 as well as most local utility rebates.
The new 16 SEER heat pump uses R-410A refrigerant, which minimizes the impact on the environment. The simultaneous operation of a high-pressure relief valve and temperature sensors protect the compressor against high and low pressure as well as excessive temperature.
The heat pump also features a molded composite bulkhead that isolates the compressor from the rest of the unit, reducing sound and vibration, while a stamped coil guard completely protects the coil from debris and other large damaging material. A swept-wing fan design also contributes to the unit’s whisper-quiet operation by allowing air to flow smoothly and efficiently across the fan tips.
A slide-down control compartment and angled service valves reduce overall installation time and cost. In addition, a full-end, full-service panel with a handle provides easy access to internal components. When the new heat pump is integrated with the Affinity Communicating Control, advanced control and diagnostic capabilities make servicing the unit even easier.
An automotive-quality finish provides protection from harmful ultraviolet rays as well as rust creep, ensuring a long-lasting, quality appearance. A powder-paint topcoat applied over a baked-on primer results in a durable finish. In fact, the finish is 33 percent more durable than conventional powder-coat finishes, according to rigorous tests.
