Venstar® has announced the launch of its multi-functional, simple-to-use, touch screen thermostat called ColorTouch. ColorTouch brings HVAC distributors and contractors a new revenue opportunity that is attractively priced at approximately half the competitor’s touch screen thermostat, the company said. ColorTouch is compatible with virtually every type of heating and air conditioning system.

The thermostat is easy to install with a graphical user interface that shows which outputs turn on and which should be on, so the contractor can ensure all equipment is connected and working properly. Programming and configuration can be done in advance using the ColorTouch Assistant software and an SD memory card (not included).  Every time customers run the ColorTouch Assistant software, the system automatically connects to Venstar’s ColorTouch Web site and updates the software and firmware.

In addition, contractors can input their contact information into the thermostat so when customers need service, they can press the Service Information to find the contractor’s information.

Customers can customize the thermostat’s appearance with their own photos for the screen saver and background wallpaper. The thermostat software is compatible with any Mac or PC desktop or laptop computer, and the ColorTouch Assistant is included with the thermostat or can be downloaded from Venstar’s Web site.

Additional features include:

• “Simple as You Want” Operation let’s you customize thermostat info, such as removing cooling references for homes without air conditioning and providing enlarged display numbers and fewer display items, making it perfect for basic users.
• Intuitive scheduler that automatically changes the temperature and mode for up to to four periods per day, allowing for comfortable temperatures for sleeping, waking, and daytime, plus an energy savings mode for when no one is home.
• At-a-glance screen lets users see temperature and heating/cooling status.
• Nighttime dimmer for bedroom thermostats gives the user the ability to adjust the time the dimmer is on. 
• Easy access energy usage information lets users easily see how much energy has been used to heat and cool for the past seven days, helping users to evaluate energy conservation options and providing them an opportunity to decrease energy costs.
• Customizable faceplates to match home décor
• Automatic daylight savings adjustments, multiple languages, and reminder alerts.
