The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA), the nation's largest association of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) contractors, has announced the release of its American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-recognized ACCA Manual SPS (HVAC Design for Swimming Pools and Spas).
Input from original equipment manufacturers, mechanical contractors, and industry consultants is included in Manual SPS. The HVAC industry's first indoor pool and spa design standard has been created for the mechanical and HVAC system designers and includes considerations for:
- envelope moisture/thermal barriers
- design conditions for humid spaces
- control space temperature
- controlling space pressure
- indoor air quality issues
- engineered ventilation requirements
- conditioning of outdoor and makeup air
- heating and cooling loads
- evaporation loads,
- heat recovery
- water heating and water treatment
- equipment choices,
- control options and operational strategies,
- supply air CFM
- distribution and duct systems
ACCA technical manuals are the industry-standard reference materials and procedures that contractors nationwide use to properly design, install, and maintain quality HVACR systems. A great amount of care has been taken to ensure that Manual SPS contains all the information needed by contractors to successfully complete a natatorium design. The new Manual SPS is available at the ACCA bookstore.
