ecobee announces their Energy Management System (EMS) for the commercial market. According to the company, the EMS is ideal in applications where a simple thermostat does not provide adequate controls and functionality and a full-scale building automation system is too complex and cost prohibitive. The EMS, like ecobee’s Smart Thermostat for residential purposes, was designed to be extremely easy to use, reduce operating costs and deliver increased energy conservation.
The EMS comes with a dedicated web portal that allows users to remotely monitor, identify, analyze and trouble-shoot performance issues with their HVAC systems. This means greater control and diagnostic capabilities over a location's operating system and climate resulting in fewer truck rolls and on-site technician calls.
The ecobee EMS has a full-color touch screen and offers multiple climate programming for occupied and unoccupied schedules. Using the EMS, a building manager can create standard operating procedures across multiple properties and compare, contrast and audit energy consumption levels for each property. Users can also program the ecobee EMS to send electronic operational alerts and service reminders.
The ecobee EMS can manage an unlimited number of thermostats in multiple locations across diverse geographies. The configuration protocol allows for grouping thermostats and the flexibility to provide multiple users with varying degrees of accessibility and operating permissions.
