Rheem Commercial Contractors can save time and money with the new ClearControl control board on Rheem commercial equipment. ClearControl enables Contractors to easily identify and address system maintenance, while building management professionals also benefit from its plug and play compatibility with building automation systems.

ClearControl is a microprocessor-based control board that was designed to surpass current commercial diagnostic technologies and provide Contractors with advanced heating and cooling diagnostics and a revolutionary easy-to-read display.

“We repeatedly heard Contractors communicating the challenges associated with current system diagnostics,” said Erich Bauman, commercial product manager, Rheem.  “So, Rheem made it a high priority to develop a commercial control board with a 16 character LCD screen, featuring easy-to-read text and reporting on 76 different conditions to positively impact ease of service, reliability and product longevity.”

“We took special attention to eliminate complicated codes or lights, which can be understandably time-consuming to interpret,” confirmed Bauman.  “In addition, the intuitive keypad is easy to navigate as it relates to evaluating systems settings, status information and alarms.”

Also important is the protection against system failure.  According to Bauman, such a feature provides the customer with a high degree of product reliability.

“For example, with the ‘three strikes and you’re out’ feature, if the high pressure switch is tripped, the product automatically shuts off, which is absolutely critical when considering the equipment investment,” added Bauman.

For the facilities manager or building owner, another important feature of the ClearControl control board is its ability to communicate with any Building Automation System (BAS).  The communication board can be field installed and communicates in Bacnet IP, Bacnet MS/TP or LonWorks protocols

The new microprocessor-based control board will be available in early 2010.  It will be factory mounted on 3 to 25 ton package gas electrics, package air conditioners and heat pumps which include RKNL-C, RLNL-C and RJNL-C.
