Established in 1961 by Robert Cosco, the store operated under the name of Refrigerator Service and Supply, which became Cosco Supply in 1968. Throughout the 48 years, the family has diversified their business to adapt to the changes in the economy. Cosco has expanded from a one-stop supply store to having a chain of four locations throughout the major islands (Honolulu – Oahu, Kahului – Maui, Kona – Hawaii and Lihue – Kauai).
Cosco’s uniqueness is the self-serve concept of distribution, which is how the company got the trade name “industrial supermarket.” Customers are given personalized, quick service, and they are able to select from a wide range of quality products from a number of companies like Daikin AC, Lennox, Unico, Genetron Refrigerants, Diversitech, Fasco, Hart & Cooley, Nu-Calgon, Nomaco, Clarcor, A-1 Compressors, and Mueller Streamline.
