It All Starts Now

Happy New Year! I love this time of year, to be honest. There’s just something about the beginning of a new year that brings out a lot of optimism in me for the future. This is a time when many people make resolutions. And, whether you stick to them or fizzle out after a few weeks, the intention is to better yourself for the coming year.

In a few short weeks, contractors, suppliers, consultants, manufacturers and everyone in between will converge on Las Vegas for the largest gathering in the industry — AHR Expo. What better time than the beginning of the New Year to get together with 60,000 of your closest colleagues to exchange ideas and see the latest trends for 2017?

There is so much to see and do at the AHR Expo, you have to go in it with a plan or you’ll be overwhelmed. Wade Mayfield, president of Thermal Services Inc. in Omaha, Neb., believes whether you go in with a detailed plan or simply a list of things you’d like to see, you’re not going to be disappointed.

“My plan consists of trying to see what’s new and where the industry is headed,” he says.

“I also always plan time to get together with my contractor network to discuss new products and business best practices.”

Wade has a lot of advice for navigating the crowded show floor, as well as tips for connecting with suppliers. So did all of the industry influencers I spoke with — you can read all about how to make the most of your trip to Las Vegas in my AHR Expo Show Preview, available exclusively on hvacrbusiness.com. And be sure to check out my blog and follow us on Twitter, as I’ll do my best to post updates throughout the show.

Like Wade, I enjoy the chance to see all the latest and greatest products and technology, to speak with so many industry professionals and — most important — connect with contractors like you and hear your business success stories.

In fact, I urge you to stop by the HVACR Business booth (C5509) and share your story with us. While you’re there, you can get your picture taken “on the cover” of the magazine.

Even if you’re not coming to Las Vegas this month or you simply don’t have time to stop by our booth (we understand, it’s a busy show), we still want to hear from you.

It’s stories of your entrepreneurial success that help make this magazine such a great resource and inspire other contractors. Whether you’ve recently grown your fleet size, added whole home comfort or simply continue to see year-over-year profit growth, send us a note, write me an email or log on to hvacrbusiness.com/success-stories and tell us all about it.

For the past 11 years, we’ve shared those stories with the industry, as well as provided top-notch content from business management experts whose ideas and concepts can easily be translated into immediate action for your business — and that’s not going to change.

We’ve also recognized that many industry suppliers have great business advice to offer, so this year we’re introducing a new sponsored content section called Business Insights. Each month we’ll bring you Business Insights in a number of industry categories from some of the top influencers in HVACR.

Sometimes, the best New Year’s Resolution is to simply re-commit to doing something you already do well — and do it even better. And that’s exactly what we’re doing with our editorial mission, as we continue to improve your business performance through editorial excellence.

See you in Las Vegas!
