The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA) recently recognized several members for their outstanding occupational safety and health performance through the organization’s Safety Excellence Award Program (SSEAP).
The results for the 2012 safety program show improvements in several areas. The average OSHA incidence rate was 3.11, the lowest reported in the past ten years. Practically all contractors reported implementing a safety and health program, conducting regular inspections, and conducting weekly safety training using Toolbox Talks and/or safety videos. The average Experience Modification Rate (EMR) was 0.82, the lowest since at least 2003.
