The Building Performance Institute, Inc. (BPI) recently announced the addition of Julie Humes of Lennox Industries and Paul Francisco, a senior technical specialist for the weatherization industry, to BPI's Board of Directors. The organization also announced the re-appointment of John Tooley of Advanced Energy to the Board.
"Julie, Paul and John's experience and leadership ensure a strong future for BPI," said Larry Zarker, BPI CEO. "Their guidance will be critical as BPI's standards, credentials and quality assurance continues to raise the bar in home performance across the United States and into the international sector."
Julie Humes has over 30 years of experience in the contracting industry, the majority in marketing management for Lennox Industries, a global manufacturer of heating, air conditioning, and indoor air quality systems. Julie's experience includes national, regional, and local marketing from both the manufacturing and contracting sides with a focus on energy-efficiency marketing strategies. Her expertise in consumer buying behavior for HVAC products brings a strategy that benefits the bottom-line profits of contracting, utility, and manufacturing organizations.
Paul Francisco has been a research engineer with the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center and Building Research Council at the University of Illinois since 2003, and worked as a research scientist for 10 years with Ecotope, Inc. His research focuses on energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and their interactions in residential buildings, primarily through field measurement. Paul is also involved with training of residential building assessors and contractors; he is focused on building science principles and the 'house as a system' approach that includes both energy and the indoor environment - an approach that mirrors BPI's.
John Tooley is one of the nation's leaders in the area of building science technologies. Hailed as a visionary in energy efficiency, John has diagnosed and repaired more than 5,000 homes while helping to weatherize more than 10,000 homes. John joined Advanced Energy in 1996 and is now responsible for business development with the organization's Applied Building Science team. Regarded as a pioneer in the world of energy efficiency, John trains builders and contractors all over the United States.
