COLUMBUS, OH – Heating, Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI) announced today the launch of the 2014 Homes for Our Troops Campaign, coordinated by HARDI’s Impact Committee and HALO (Helping All Live On). The mission of Homes for Our Troops (HFOT) is to build specially adapted homes for service members who have been severely injured in combat operations.

"This year, HARDI's Impact Committee will follow a build located outside of Cottonwood, AZ, near where the 2013 HARDI annual conference will take place December 7-10," said Dave Chatmon, Chair of the HARDI Impact Committee. "We've been so thrilled to see an increasing amount of distributors signing up to contribute. HARDI members, Russ Geary, Geary Pacific Supply and Greg Bush, Bush Supply, have been particularly involved with the kickoff of this campaign."

"We at Geary Pacific look forward to being  a part of this year's Homes for Our Troops program in our area," said Russ Geary, Geary Pacific. "When Bryant Jacobs, a recipient of a HFOT build, spoke at last year's annual conference, he thanked the membership for our help with building his home, we  were moved by Bryant's gratitude. We talked amongst ourselves at our table during the banquet how we are the ones that should be honored and grateful of Bryant's service to our country. Again, it is  a privilege to participate in a build. We would certainly encourage all HARDI members to do likewise."

"Bush Supply is proud to help with the Homes for Our Troops program," said Greg Bush, Bush Supply. "We always appreciate opportunities that allow us to use our resources to give back to our community.  When we saw HARDI was doing this project and that it was in our state, our home, we knew we had to participate.  Thank you to HARDI and to HALO for the opportunity. From the Bush Supply family to the Sgt. Maynard family, welcome home."

Project Update: Ground Breaking Ceremony

Homes for Our Troops is building a home in the Verde Valley for Sgt. Jordan Maynard, wife Jennifer, and son Jay.The Squad Leader on a foot patrol with the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines, Sgt. Maynard stepped on an IED resulting in injuries so severe, both of his legs required amputations above the knee. This home will provide Sgt. Maynard with the accessibility he needs to accommodate the injuries he suffered.

Homes for Our Troops broke ground on the building project for Marine Sgt. Jordan Maynard and family on Saturday, June 22, on S. Anica Lane in Cottonwood. Jim York, Geary Pacific Supply, met Sgt. Maynard and his wife at the ground breaking ceremony. "It was an honor to attend the ground breaking ceremony and to thank Sgt. Maynard in person.  It was a very humbling experience. These soldiers are amazing. They are willing to sacrifice everything, and they ask for so little in return."
