ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) International Inc. has announced the revision of ANSI/AMCA Standard 301, Methods for Calculating Fan Sounds Ratings From Laboratory Test Data. The new designation is ANSI/AMCA Standard 301-14.

This standard establishes standard methods for calculating consistent fan sound ratings from laboratory test data. Its intended audience is generally fan manufacturers; however any professional may find it useful to understand how fan sound ratings are developed from test data. Acousticians may additionally find it useful to explore the source of fan sound ratings provided by the product manufacturer.

ANSI/AMCA 301-14 replaces ANSI/AMCA Standard 301-90 and a 2006 version, which was withdrawn due to technical problems.
